Bruce Mau Design, a firm based in Toronto, Canada, is pioneering a new way of doing design. Instead of the traditional focus on products, their focus is on studying the world.
“Many think that we do design. However, we study the world. We have studied architecture, cities, furniture, technology, composition, art, dance, economics, Paris, film, modernity, future and life with a wide range of the world's most interesting people. And we are open to study virtually everything.”
Bruce Mau himself explains their method in the following way: “We don’t start out by knowing it all. We end up knowing something when the process is over. All we know at the start is that there is a problem. And during the process we then learn a great deal about that problem.”
